Family gets behind Mack truck

Big ups to Andy Maynard from Clive Taylor for sending through these awesome pics of a 2017 Mack Trident with Hardox bins for carting rock, for the ‘Show off your Hardox body’ photo competition.

“Back in 2017 the truck went on the road towing a 4-axle trailer – 8mm floor – 4mm sides – 6mm headboard and tail gate from Transport Trailers in Hamilton. Truck bin set up on a sub frame on twist locks – 8mm floor – 4mm sides –6mm headboard and tail gate kit set bin from Real Steel. Tare of 17,800...” says Andy.

“In 2019, Clive said ‘we need more pay load out of this thing’ so then came the 5-axle trailer to really put the Mack to test. It has 8mm floor – 4mm sides – 6mm tail gate and headboard from Transport Trailers in Hamilton and the unit now tares in at 18,900. Now on an HMVP with a pay load of 31ton,” says Andy.

“I’m the full-time operator for this unit and over the past 3 years I have carted a lot of rock around the lower north island – 500 to 1 metre big boulders and the bins still look brand new. As of today, there’s not a dent in them,” says Andy.

“Thank you to the team at Real Steel for creating these Hardox bins that handle anything we throw at them,” from the team at Clive Taylors.

As a side note, Andy’s family also get right in behind Andy and his Mack when it comes to truck shows and events. “They won the ‘2017 Mangatainoka Best Presented’ and ‘2018 Mangatainoka Best Mack’. From left to right in the photo is my son Bradley and daughters Natasha, baby Renee and my oldest Hayley,” says Andy.

Thanks Andy for your awesome story, it’s great to see your family are so keen to get involved as well. You have been placed into the prize draw! 👍

Gibson Field Services enters photo comp

Cheers to Max Gibson from Gibson Field Services Ltd for sending in his entry for our 'Show off your Hardox body' photo competition!

Max has sent in pics of their Iveco Trakker 6x6 metal truck featuring Hardox bins and a tractor and Hardox Giltrap trailer, both used for building forestry roads in the lower north island.

"The Iveco Trakker 6x6 is a great truck for the job at hand and handles well towing the 2 axle "dog" Hardox trailer. We use our Hardox Giltrap trailer for end hauling dirt while building the forestry roads. Both of these were bought brand new and are great bits of equipment," says Max.

Hardox truck and trailer combo

Check out this beauty, a recent Higgins Concrete Mack truck with a Hardox truck and trailer combo!

This 'Show off your Hardox body' photo competition entry was sent in by Dwayne Zander from Gary Douglas Engineers Ltd (GDE) in Palmerston North. GDE were one of the first in New Zealand to adopt the Hardox brand into their tipper bin builds.

"We started with Hardox floors and then onto full Hardox bins once the 1000 tonne press brake arrived at Real Steel. The one piece folded sides were very impressive and became easier and quicker to assemble," says Dwayne.

Real Steel forms tipper sides and floors from one piece of Hardox 450. Only one weld, from coaming rail to bottom skirt, headboard to tailgate. No seams, no laser welds, no weaknesses. You get reduced tare weight, increased payload and unparalleled service life 👍👍👍
