We want to help MAKE IT REAL by supporting you with…

  • Steel, stainless steel, or aluminium!

We’re trying to help as many people as possible to MAKE IT REAL. So if you’re an individual or group who has a great idea, then we’d love to hear it!

You can be based anywhere in New Zealand. You could be a student, a professional, or a community group.

The main things we’re looking for are:

  1. Innovative and interesting ideas

    You don’t have to build a life-sized robot, but we’re looking for a little more than a new gate for your vege patch.

  2. Achievability

    We’d like to know you’re going to be able to successfully complete the project.

  3. Products and people we’d all be proud to showcase

    We definitely want to share your idea (and the story of you making it real) with the world.

  • We’re open to anyone! You could be a student (or a group of students) or you could be retired… or you could be anyone in between.

    We have factories in Upper Hutt and Ashburton, but we’ll make any location work… if we love your project!

  • No. We’re open to all sorts of people and ideas.

    That said, if your project requires advanced engineering… it’s probably going to help if you know a little bit about what you’re doing!

  • We’re looking for products and projects that require steel… but other than that, we’re not locked into any specific type of ideas.

    Whatever your idea is, we definitely want it to be original, innovative, and exciting!

    It can be a small or big project. But bear in mind that it’s a lot easier to make small things than big things, so if it’s really, really big… it’ll have to be pretty amazing.

  • Sure. But assume we’re only going to be able to help with one.

    So don’t hold back on your best one!

  • MAKE IT REAL isn’t intended for businesses to produce cheap products to sell on.

    But we’re definitely open to helping people build MVPs and prototypes!

    If in doubt, just share the idea and we can chat about it.

  • No. Never.

    We don’t make products. We cut and form steel.

  • We’ll try to move very quickly.

    You can expect us to get in touch within a week.

  • Short answer: yes.

    Long answer: if we choose your idea to go forward with, we’ll negotiate exactly what you need from us. As well as what you might need from other people. We’ll do our very best to give you everything you need... just bear in mind we’ve never done this before… so there might be some times when you have to find your own welder at a local engineering firm etc. It’s all a bit case by case.

    Again though… short answer: yes.

  • We’re keen to showcase the story of your idea (and you) as we help you build it.

    With that in mind, we’ll want you to agree to letting us make a video (or something) about your project. And we’ll need your full cooperation to do that.

    Other than that…. we just want to make some great steel-y things together!
